Sefton Bivvy
Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park
Built in 1917 by Mount Cook chief guide to gain better access to nearby Sefton and Footstool ascents. The oldest hut in Aoraki, all materials were manually carried to site on the backs of mountaineers, as was the norm in these pre-helicopter days.
The bivvy was damaged by snow in 1918, but was quickly repaired. It remains largely unchanged today, the recent paint job attracting hikers and adventure influencers alike. It’s cosy 4 bunk size makes for a great Mini Hut but a potentially steamy stay.
Limited edition of 6. Designed to hang on your wall (with in-built hanging system) or stand freely on your shelf. Comes in custom box with hut card.
Reclaimed timber including rimu, repurposed sheet metal, glass mirror, enamel and galvanized nails. 132mm x 113mm x 28mm
$540
