Ivory Lake Hut

Aotearoa’s highest altitude SF70 six bunk hut. Built in 1970 to aid the monitoring of glacier dynamics, the Ministry of Works airdropped in the SF70 chimney and all despite the alpine site.
It sits on concrete piles bolted to solid rock and a lean replaced the chimney to house the scientific equipment to help understand climate change.
